Silverstrand has a very well-educated, qualified and driven team of professionals who are always striving to improve the company and move it forward. Silverstrand could provide in-house solutions to technical civil engineering problems. This ability is a combination of experienced senior staff coupled with the introduction of both graduates and experienced personnel to create an environment where ideas can be exchanged to arrive at the most efficient solution.
As an organization, the skills and abilities of the workforce are key in bringing to fruition these ideas and delivering a project to the client’s satisfaction.
Health & Safety
Silverstrand is committed to zero harm by providing a healthy and safe working environment for all contractors and members of the public and has an established Health and Safety policy and management system that is certified to ISO45001:2018 standard.
Having undertaken projects in regional and remote areas in both difficult terrains and harsh climatic conditions, Silverstrand has established an impeccable safety record with several innovative safety procedures and methods implemented to ensure a safe working environment for all contractors.
Since June 2013 Silverstrand have managed a total of 2,000,000-man hours with zero Lost Time Injury (LTI) free hours recorded. Due to constant monitoring of the workplace environment and situations, along with complying with our Health & Safety Management System we have been able to ensure that all employees and contractors working with SSD put the necessary procedures in place to enable a risk-free workplace.
Employee and Industrial Relations
Silverstrand has established an Employee Relations Management Plan (ERMP) and Policy that sets a number of objectives and approaches that have been implemented to assist with and ensure the successful management and outcomes of all employee and industrial relations. These outcomes include but are not limited to:

a stable industrial relations environment for the company and the projects undertaken;

the ability for the company and the project to attract labour;
-
ensuring that effective communication processes are in place between supervisor and labour;
-
provide a work environment that is conducive to maximum work effort; and
-
positive employee engagement to maximize productivity and mitigate third party disruption.
To further assist with the effective implementation of this management plan Silverstrand has a separate payroll department to deal with employee enquiries on an individual basis and has engaged a number of external consultants to offer assistance with intricate IR issues, this has resulted in Silverstrand having Zero % rostered work hours lost due to industrial action and Zero legal action taken against Silverstrand from any Union or any other party.
Indigenous Awareness & Participation
Silverstrand is committed to the development of Australian, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea Indigenous communities by providing employment opportunities for people through our operations, subcontractors, and suppliers. It is our goal to increase the number of indigenous people employed by Silverstrand and to increase opportunities for indigenous communities through the following:

Silverstrand also aims to achieve improved productivity, efficiency, quality and customer satisfaction by having an effective and properly managed quality system that complies with AS/NZS ISO 9001:2016, by ensuring that all staff are suitably trained and by implementing system improvements when deficiencies are identified.

Reviewing quality objectives and targets through Business performance reporting and ensuring appropriate allocation of responsibilities and resources;

Ensuring project management staff are provided with the appropriate instruction and training on how to use and implement the Project Quality Management Plan.

All Silverstrand employees are responsible for the quality of their efforts and are required to comply with the Company's Quality Management System. All employees shall be made aware of these requirements through their initial induction and by their supervisors.
